Bernard Foucher is La Luandière’s most prestigious red wine. A Cabernet Franc shaped by elevation, light, wind, and patience. From its hillside position, the vineyard looks across the valley and toward the Klein Drakenstein Mountains, gathering both ripeness and restraint.
This wine is made to honour Cabernet Franc’s natural elegance: aromatic detail, fine tannin, freshness, and structure. Rather than chasing heaviness, Bernard Foucher is built around poise. Its ageing potential lies in its balance — the way fruit, herb, tannin, and acidity are held together with quiet confidence.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the wine shows a luminous ruby-red gleam, leading into a ripe and expressive nose. A vibrant core of mulberry, cherry and currant gives the wine freshness and depth, with the fruit remaining clearly defined throughout the palate.
Elegant and beautifully balanced, the wine is supported by well-judged oak that adds structure and complexity without obscuring its fruit. The palate carries with poise into a long, composed finish, leaving a lasting impression of refinement, balance and depth.
Cabernet Franc rewards sensitivity. The fruit is handled gently, with extraction guided by texture rather than force. French oak maturation adds shape and polish, while allowing the grape’s natural perfume and herbal detail to remain at the centre. The result is a wine of elegance and complexity.
Bernard Foucher is a wine of intelligence rather than volume. It does not need to shout. Its beauty lies in its finely polished harmonious balance. We make it with the future in mind, allowing the wine to develop slowly in the bottle and reveal the more contemplative side of Paarl terroir.
